melbourne

21 Oct 2013

Hi All,

Greetings from Launceston. I flew in last night and I've been out and about all day today and I'm absolutely shattered. I think it will be a few more days before I get round to posting any images from my trip to Tassie. Instead here are some images from my work trip to Melbourne. I managed to squeeze in a mini shopshoot so I'll bring those to you later this week.

I arrived a day before the conference began and headed straight to Fitzroy, one of my all time favourite Melbourne haunts.

I checked out Cote, filled with vintage French finds, before heading back along Brunswick Street, where I found this lovely flower shop.

How cute is this tea cosy from T2?

Fitzroy = Funky

Then it was conference time. I passed Victoria Barracks every day as I walked to the convention centre. I saw 2 separate bridal parties having their photos taken outside the barracks, so it must be one of 'those places' like Sydney's Observatory Hill where brides are parked in a queue. I used to be a wedding photographer so been there, done that.

The early morning walk took me past the NGV and along South Bank.

This really isn't how Melbourne is spelt!

And because I'm a dog person, a photo of this very handsome chap I found patiently waiting outside a cafe in Armadale.

I'll be back later in the week with a mini shopshoot for you all, so until then,

Jillian

four seasons in one day - melbourne

25 Apr 2012

I'm not taking any holidays until October, so I decided a mini break would have to suffice until then. I decided to go down to Melbourne and arranged to catch up with friends. I thought I'd drive down 'cos it's always handy having a car then a week ago I changed my mind and booked a flight down to Melbourne instead.

Melbourne is known for having 4 seasons in one day so in between the rain, the sun would peek through. I only had 2 days in Melbourne but I managed to cram in a great deal in a short space of time.

I visited the NGV and saw the Brent Harris print exhibition, which I enjoyed. Then it was on the tram to South Melbourne for a spot of shopping at Izzi and Popo.

Fitzroy was my next shopping destination. I dropped into Nook Vintage and Used Pty Ltd and picked up a few things. Shopping makes me hungry and the rain was about to fall so I ducked into Little Creatures Dining Hall.

While I was waiting for my spicy meatball pizza to arrive, I took some snaps.

Little Creatures Dining Hall is a pretty groovy place and I'm not sure if I quite fitted in.

The pizza was delicious though and by the time I'd demolished it, the rain had stopped.

I ducked out and carried all my parcels back to Prahran as carefully as I could and as they're all styling props, you'll get to see them sooner or later.

It's back to work for me tomorrow for the next 2 days then it's the weekend. Yippee! Today is Anzac Day and normally I'd have made a batch of Anzac biscuits to commemorate the day but I've been busy editing a shopshoot, so that didn't happen. I might make a batch this coming weekend instead.

See you all next week,

Jillian

Shopshoot -The Vegetable Connection

26 Feb 2010

When I last wrote I was just about to hop on tram 112 to Fitzroy. I first visited Fitzroy 7 years ago when I was in town attending a friends wedding. I stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast which unfortunately has since closed down. I enjoyed exploring Brunswick Street, looking in the shops and eating in the restaurants and since that visit I always drop by Fitzroy whenever I'm in town.

I walked past the vegetable connection and the vegetable displays looked so appealling, I asked if I could take a few photos. When I was given the okay, I went to work.

The organic fruit and vegetables were thoughtfully arranged and were in beautiful condition.

I was not alone. For the first time ever I shared a shop with another person taking photos of vegetables! I couldn't resist and took a quick shot. Wouldn't it be funny if she were one of my blog readers.

It's been a long week so I'm about to do the dishes before plonking myself on the couch. I'll be back Monday with a shopshoot from Melbourne so I hope you'll come back then.

Let the weekend begin,

Jillian
