SLIDER

Saturday in Sydney

6 Apr 2008

I decided to be a tourist in my own town. I caught the train into Martin Place and walked down to the Botanical Gardens. I stopped by the State Library to take a photo of Matthew Flinders with his loyal cat, Trim.

From the library I walked through the Botanical Gardens past Government House. It was a spectacular autumn day - sunny with barely a cloud in the sky.

Guess where?

Many tourists were around and about and 2 groups of people asked if I could take their photos. I do not know how to use a point and shoot camera and I can't see the lcd without my glasses so I apologise in advance for their fuzzy happy snaps of the Opera House and Harbour!

From the Opera House I walked back to Martin Place station via the landmark AMP building, the first of Sydney's skyscrapers, and on to the Museum of Sydney and back home again. Autumn weather is about to strike so this may be the last of the good days for a while.

Next week I'll be posting a family portrait session so stay tuned,

Hot Cross Buns

24 Mar 2008

As promised I finally baked a batch of easter buns on Sunday. I took out my much loved, much used and much stained Margaret Fulton Cookbook and whipped up a batch of hot cross buns minus the crosses.

I had 2 of the buns for my breakfast and as Dad had decided to celebrate Easter with a roast turkey with all the trimmings, I failed to do lunch justice.

Dad had decided to celebrate Easter with a roast turkey with all the trimmings, I failed to do lunch justice. We were all overfull at dinner time so it was a piece of toast for me, a piece of fruit for Mum and a bowl of rice bubbles for my Dad.

I hope you all enjoyed the Easter break,

Happy Easter snd the Wong family portraits

21 Mar 2008

I moved to Sydney for the first time 20 years ago. My Dad and I drove down from Brisbane in driving rain. Today I woke to the sound of raindrops, the first rain we've had after 3 weeks of glorious sunny, hot weather. There is something about Sydney, Easter and rainy weather. I however won't be here as I'm flying up to Brisbane this afternoon to spend the weekend with my parents. I had hoped to share a photo of a hot cross bun with you but I was hungry and ate it before it could be photographed!

I'm posting a few photos from the special family session I did on Saturday.

Chocolate Pecan Pie

17 Mar 2008

I had fun styling the pecan pie shoot, which took me just as long as it took to bake the pie! I've been making this pie for almost 20 years now and I'm still tweaking the recipe. I don't think there are any elements of the original Nuts about Chocolate recipe in this current version. I tried using a Gordon Ramsay pastry recipe and it was really difficult to handle so I won't be trying that again.

I've still to blog a few special items from a family portrait shoot I did during the weekend.

Stay tuned,

Etsy - jillian leiboff imaging fine art prints

9 Mar 2008

For those of you not in the know, etsy is an online store where artists sell their wares. I only learned about etsy 2 weeks ago and I'm waiting for my first purchase to arrive from the US. There are already a large number of photographers on etsy but I thought I might give it a try.

I've prepared a few images, mainly botanical and all with textures. The images are 5 inches in size placed on a 6 inch piece of paper. I haven't printed any of the images yet but I think I'll get them printed on photo rag fine art paper, a slightly off white water colour paper. If I opened an etsy shop, would you be interested in purchasing any of my images?

Waverley Cemetery

4 Mar 2008

I've always loved cemeteries and Waverley Cemetery is one of my favourites. Dreary weather postponed my trip down to Wollongong so I headed over to Waverley.

I've attached some of my favourites from the day plus a moggie photo taken in Woollahra,
