My black and white film couldn't be developed and scanned until I returned to Sydney. That means I haven't been able to share most of the film images I took in London, Paris and Iceland.



My Dad gave me my first SLR camera in 1991, a Nikon 801, and I went to Somerset House camera in hand, to take some photos. Since then Somerset House has always been on my London list of places to visit as it's the home to the Courtauld Gallery. It was a dreary old day in London town and I found these lonely looking chairs in the courtyard.

I love these weather beaten decorations.



A rainy day in London but despite the weather, I love how regal this entryway is.



Due to raging jet-lag it took me 2 goes to track it down, but I eventually found the Chelsea Hospital and was intrigued by all the lines in this image.



The Victoria and Albert Museum is always on my list of places to visit in London.



I could say the same thing about Borough Markets. I love visiting the markets for the sights, the sounds and the smells. It's a highly photogenic place.



As you can see the weather in London wasn't too kind to me that day.

I loved this detail from Neal's Yard Cheese Shop.



My favourite black and white image from London and yes I admit to stalking this gentleman until I could get a shot of him having a sneaky ale outside the coffee shop.

Hi Every-one,

it seems an age since I last wrote. I've been cooped up in a convention centre in Glasgow for the past week so there has been precious little time for blogging, photography or shopping. Well from today all that will change.



These photos are from the 3 days I spent in London. I stayed in a lovely little flat in Notting Hill so explored the area a little. St Stephen's Mews were not far away so I stopped by whenever I could because I find mews so charming.



Daylesford Organics was just around the corner. I bought a little something there the day I arrived in London, the only thing I've bought to date.



Portobello Road was a 5 minute walk from home.



On my way to Hackney I stopped by Spitalfields and Shoreditch so I could visit Labour and Wait, one of my favourite stores.



I do have my eye on one of their aprons but I was mindful of my small backpack so will probably get one online once I'm home.


I always make sure I walk to Redchurch Street via Fournier Street. The houses there have a unique character.



I also visited the Chelsea Physic Gardens stopping at the Royal Hospital Chelsea along the way.



It took me 2 tries to find the gardens. On the day I arrived I went to Chelsea but I was a bit too jet lagged to follow directions and got lost. I did however find the hospital.



I wandered through them with my camera. I loved the hospital grounds.



How lucky are those Chelsea Pensioners to live here?



The Chelsea Physic Gardens are just a short walk from the hospital.



The garden is filled with medicinal plants and herbs as well as flowers and of course a statue of Lord Sloane.



These beautiful flowers from the garden adorned the tables in the tea room.



No visit to London is complete without a visit to the Borough Markets.



They have some lovely organic produce for sale.



I did need to feed my soul as well as my tummy so I visited the Victoria and Albert Museum to see the Paul Strand exhibition.



I found this installation in the courtyard.



On my last day in London, there wasn't too much time for reflection as I beetled my way through the streets en route to Liberty. It was a grey old day so I picked my way though puddles.



I always stop by the flower shop Wild at Heart at Liberty for a pop of colour.



Aren't these peonies vibrant?



And of course some delphiniums.



Something a bit more muted. Of course I took load more photos but I hope that gave you all a taste of London.

Hi Every-one,

I'm on the Thalys travelling from Brussels to Paris. The train may be high speed but the wi-fi certainly isn't. Hopefully I'll get this post written before I arrive at the Gare du Nord. I am so excited at the prospect of Paris, but back to London.



I spent 5 days in London. It was sunny the day I arrived, it was sunny the day I left and it rained every day in between.



I've been visiting London since I was 15, so I've been there a few times now and the city is very familiar to me. Each time I visit I like to explore a new to me district. This time I chose to explore Islington and I stayed at a gorgeous flat in Shepherd's Bush I found through airbnb. 




I visited the Estorick Gallery in Islington and I did a shopshoot while I was there but I'm awaiting for permission before I can post the images. I also visited my favourite gallery, the Courtauld at Somerset House.




I saw a wonderful Matisse exhibition at the Tate Modern and walked back across the Millenium Bridge to St. Paul's cathedral, where I saw this view from the bridge.





I found these beautiful roses in the garden of St Paul's.






I also visited the glamorous Italian fashion exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. 





As I needed a bit of cheering up after a day of sloshing through puddles, I went to Liberty of London as their flower shop never disappoints.  





As always I took stacks of images so there will be a few more London posts. I also shot most of a roll of black and white film whilst in London, so I'll share those images once I'm home and get them processed.



Okay, it's official, the wifi has defeated me so I'll finish this post here while I still can.
